KYC Statuses

This page describes every KYC status a merchant account can hold, what it means, what action the merchant must take, and what to display in the merchant dashboard.

Status changes are communicated by email to the merchant's registered email address and are visible in the PAI dashboard.

Status reference

pending

The application has been received and is either in automatic verification or in the manual review queue. No decision has been made.

Merchant action required: None.

Consequences: No access to stage, integration, or production until the status changes.

Typical duration: 1–3 business days. Applications that pass automatic verification may resolve same day.

KYC Review in Progress

Your application has been submitted and is currently under review. You will be notified by email when a decision has been made. No action is needed at this time.


approved

All identity, ownership, and document checks have passed. The merchant is cleared to proceed to kickoff and integration.

Merchant action required: None. Your PAI point of contact will be in touch to schedule the project kickoff call. Ensure your KYC information remains up to date and notify PAI of any changes with at least 3 business days' written notice.

Consequences: Project kickoff, stage access, technical integration, and production go-live all become available.

Your identity and business verification is complete. Your PAI point of contact will contact you shortly to schedule your project kickoff and begin technical integration.


rejected

The application has been reviewed and does not meet the requirements for approval. A reason is provided in the rejection notice sent to the merchant's registered email address.

Merchant action required: Review the rejection notice carefully. Depending on the stated reason, reapplication may be possible after correcting the underlying issue. Contact your PAI point of contact for guidance on resubmission eligibility before resubmitting.

Consequences: No access to any PAI services. Resubmission may be possible depending on the rejection reason.

Your KYC application was not approved. The reason has been sent to your registered email address. Please review the notice and speak to your PAI point of contact if you have questions or wish to discuss resubmission options.


additional_info_required

The application cannot proceed in its current state because specific documents or information are missing or insufficient. This is not a rejection. The review resumes once the requested materials are submitted.

Merchant action required: Check your email for the notice specifying exactly which documents or information are needed. Review Troubleshooting to resolve the root cause before uploading. Upload the requested documents via the dashboard.

Consequences: Review is paused. No access to any PAI services until resubmission is received and the review resumes.

under_review

The application has been escalated for enhanced due diligence (EDD) and is being reviewed by the PAI senior compliance team. This occurs automatically for high-risk MCC categories, complex ownership structures, multi-jurisdictional entities, or applications that trigger risk signals during initial review.

Merchant action required: None unless PAI contacts you directly. Do not resubmit documents unless specifically requested.

Consequences: No access to any PAI services until the review concludes.

Typical duration: 5–10 business days. Complex cases may take longer.

🔍 KYC Under Enhanced Review

Your application has been escalated for additional compliance review. This process typically takes 5–10 business days. We will contact you directly if we need anything further. Please do not resubmit documents at this stage.
